Another Successful Kielbasa Klassic

This year’s Kielbasa Klassic 4-Man Golf Scramble was held on Sunday, August 4th, at the Giant Oak Golf Course in Temperance Michigan.  There were 15 teams for a total of 60 players, competing for first place.  This year’s winners were Dave Martin, John Danielski, Jim Carey, and Tom Cunningham.  Along with winner “bragging rights”, they also won a $300 cash prize and gift certificates to Stanley’s Market.  Golfers took home door prizes and the famous “Kielbasa Klassic” t-shirt.

PACT/TPA 2013 scholarship winners

The Polish-American Community of Toledo (PACT) and the Toledo Poznan Alliance (TPA) joined forces and awarded three scholarships to area students totaling more than $2,000, including the first Martin A. Blaszczyk Memorial Scholarship.   Mr. Blaszczyk was the editor of the Lagrange St. News and a strong advocate for the Toledo Polish community for more than 30 years.  Mr. Blaszczyk died of cancer on April 27, 2013.  He was 59.

National Polish American Sports Hall of Fame 2013 Inductees

The National Polish American Sports Hall of Fame has announced its inductees for 2013.  They will be inducted into the hall of fame on Thursday, June 13, 2013.  The event will take place at the American Polish Cultural Center in Troy, Michigan.  This year’s Master of Ceremonies is Detroit Pistons play by play announcer, George Blaha.  Tickets for the banquet, which begins at 6 P.M. are $100 and can be ordered by calling 313- 407-3300.
